Mighty Boosh Future Sailors Limited Edition
Originally uploaded by tikistitch

Because you can never have too much Boosh: bought the UK Limited Edition Future Sailors DVD set. It's pretty keen! First off, you need an all regions player to play this, 'cause it's PAL, so be warned. But, you get a Boosh belt buckle, a Boosh collectible card set, and the upper left is a keen metal box to hold the DVDs. AND, if you're olde enough (like tiki) to remember that horrible PiL "metal box set," which mostly ended up scratching your PiL records (some might argue this actually improved John Lydon's voice, but I digress), don't worry: this metal box includes the DVD set safely ensconced inside a comfy cardboard case, with more of Vince Noir's colorful drawings all over it.

It's too bad that set doesn't have a US release. If I want to play a region 2 DVD I have to use my Japanese PS2 (which I will, if I have to).

I had been meaning to ask--do you have the Mighty Boosh Complete BBC Radio Series? I had been thinking about getting it and was wondering how it compared to the TV series.

Oh, yes, I have Boosh radio! I've only listened all the way through once (you need to have time to sit and listen, which only happens with me when I'm on an airplane). I'd say it's definitely worthwhile. They have some different songs (like the full version of the song they used for the Mod Wolves dance), different routines, and Richard Ayoade (who couldn't be in the first series due to contractual reasons) has some *hysterical* bits.

Only saw the first bit of Future Sailors, looks like it captured the live show well, though it also looks like it was a lot *more* fun to actually be at the live show.

Richard Ayoade is so awesome. Saboo is my favorite Shaman, followed by Dennis. But was he also Dixon Bainbridge in the radio series? I'm really wondering what that was like...

I had heard somewhere that the Future Sailors tour was a let-down compared to the rest of the series, but then again, there will be nay-sayers about everything. Now that I've gone through the trouble of ordering The Mighty Book of Boosh from amazon.co.uk (amazon.com hasn't had it in for several months) I'm frantic thinking there's no more Boosh for me. It can't be! Even if I have to import the tour DVD, I might not be able to resist.

Future Sailors, from the bit I've seen, feels a little lazy so far. But, I wasn't expecting the world. I mostly got the set because, as you said, OMG MORE BOOSH. And I wanted the kooky extras. It most works for me so far as an ad for the live tour. (Except, I am *so* not getting seats near the front - no way am I getting Bob Fossil yelling at me!)

I'm actually a bit more interested in the Boosh Live 2006 DVD that's also included. One really pleasant surprise is how well the guys work with a live audience. I know they developed Boosh with live crowds, and it really shows, they seem to be genuinely having a lot of fun.

Richard Ayoade is made of awesome. I really need to just order the damn disks of IT Crowd.

BTW, started playing the 2006 tour DVD last night, and yep, that's the good one. In case you haven't seen it already.
